Vineyard Notes
Our estate Three Boys Vineyard is situated on the Black Sage Bench, where the east-west orientation allows for great sun exposure, and the famous sandy soil allows for excellent drainage. Viticulture practices such as shoot thinning, green harvest (cluster thinning) and leaf removal all help with flavor concentration and a purity of fruit.
Fruit selection and vine spacing led to a fruit count of approximately 3.2 tons per acre.
Winemaker Notes
A rarity in the Okanagan all of our Malbec grapes were hand harvested and hand sorted before the de-stemmed whole berries and free run juices were transferred to fermenting tanks, where they were cold soaked for five days with twice daily pump overs. A Combination of indigenous and cultivated yeast were used during fermentation while being maintained at a consistent 26 degrees. Raised in select French Oak barrels for 20 months aging; wine was blended prior to bottling.
